Morehead – Rowan County, Clyde  A. Thomas, Regional Airport (M97)

RUNWAY OPENING

The ‘Official Opening of the Runway’ was on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at approximately 3:00 PM. Pictures of the opening may be viewed at the Photo Gallery link above.  Presentation of the “Landing Certificate” by Mr. Paul Steely,Commissioner, Kentucky Department of Aviation may also be viewed in the Photo Gallery.

Thus, the new Morehead – Rowan County, Clyde A. Thomas, Regional Airport was open for business.  The former airport at Farmers was officially closed on November 1, 2007 and all aviation activities at the old airport ceased.

T-HANGARS

Completion of the 12-unit T-hangar bank occurred in September 2007.  An additional 10 tie downs are also available.  T-hangers and tie-downs are available to be rented.  T-hangars and tie-down spaces may be viewed at the airport.

ALL HANGARS ARE RENTED

T-Hangar Monthly Rental – $150.

Rental rates are generally set each fiscal year beginning July 1 but are subject to change by the Board of Directors.

GROUND BREAKING FOR ADMINISTRATION / HANGAR BUILDING

The ground breaking for the administration / hangar building was held on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 1530 hours at the site on the airport.  Be sure to check the photo gallery periodically to check the progress of the project.  Better yet, come out to the airport and see it first hand.

As an added bonus, we are now in the process of constructing the fuel farm, which consists of 100 LL Avgas and JetA fuel.  Check the photo gallery or come out to the airport to check on the progress of this project also.

ACCESS AND SITE SECURITY

The Airport Board recently purchased and set-up a residential facility to provide housing for an on-site and permanent security presence at the airport.  Access to the airport property remains unchanged.  The airport property is accessible by vehicle during regular day-light hours.  After hours, a pedestrian walkway next to the entrance gate is available.  Vehicular access to the property after regular day-light hours may be made with security personnel on site via advance notice by calling 606-784-4134.
